![]() The snow didn’t seem to bother the dog’s feet too much. We all arrived around 11:45 and stayed for an hour and a half. It was warm enough to soften the icy crust on the snow making a nice comfortable environment for the Scraps and Rags. Super Bowl Sunday at the dog park brought some of the nicest weather of the winter as the temperatures approached the 40s in strong sunlight. The hair style being sported by Rory is precious! For some reason, Nigel always gets bit so his Mom was fearing Rags may attack him. Finally, in the small dog park we met a small Pit-bull like tan dog named Nigel. There was also a brown bodied Pit-bull with a bright white face named Rocky who was getting picked on by the much smaller yet more tenacious Forrest, the Jack Russell. New to the dog park blog were a pair of giant Irish Wolf Hounds Petey and Katie. Later in the large dog park, there were mainly big dogs and they were also playing hard. There was a lot of playing and running in the small dog park where about 10 dogs came out to play. With the bright sun and the playful dogs I was able to get many good action photos. I guess lots of the dogs have cabin fever and the warm sun got them excited. We first went to the small dog park where we played with many of the same dogs we saw yesterday. This brought out lots of dogs including my beloved Scraps and Rags. It was sunnier, warmer and the snow was softer on the dogs’ paws. ![]() Everyone has gone out of their way to welcome us and make us comfortable.This Sunday was a much nicer day than yesterday. When will hospitals defer to parents for a child’s first ex-utero music? Seriously though, I couldn’t have been happier with the treatment we received this time and last time from Rex Hospital. My only disappointment this morning was the Steve Miller Band playing in the operating room during the McLain extraction. Jackie’s two-week-late arrival surprised us, but McLain arrived according to the schedule laid out for us yesterday. The planned aspect of Katie’s admittance and McLain’s birth made it seem like a very controlled and predictable process. Littleton was wearing a Tar Heel-themed surgical hat when he delivered McLain, which Katie allowed. By the way, Katie is already scheming about how to get out of the hospital as soon as possible.ĭr. Of course, I think he’s amazing in every way. ![]() He’s been sleeping pretty hard during his first few hours. Katie’s initial assessment of his appearance is that he, like Jackie when she was an infant, looks like my father. McLain Moore Jones was born early this morning at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. ![]() In the meantime, here’s a link to a Picasa album, and the first picture of our expanded family: I plan to make a couple of more polished posts after I go through the many pictures and videos waiting for me on our hard drive. Two special shout-outs are warranted: to Nana for quarantining herself Saturday when she had a stomach bug, and Sarah for joining Katie and me the early morning of his arrival. We truly appreciate the ongoing help and love from his grandparents, as well as the calls, visits, and food from friends and family. Things are going really well for the expanded family unit. His canine brothers have only licked him (Baxter) and drooled on him (Robah) once. His sister adores him, asks to hold him at least 10 times a day, and hasn’t poked him in the eye (yet). His mother, when she isn’t cuddling with him or taking care of the rest of us, has his nursing schedule completely under control. McLain has almost a full week of worldly experience, and he couldn’t be doing better. ![]()
